Discipleship
Troublesome times are here but it is by trusting in God's Power and Provision that we shall overcome. There have been times in my life when I felt like giving up but remembering what God has done for me in the past renews my inner strength.
He gives us Peace within and supplies the divine wisdom we need to persevere through difficulty and act righteously in every situation when we ask Him (James 1.5)
Sometimes, we make the mistake of thinking trusting God is a passive thing. It is not. Instead, it involves acting on the instruction He has provided in His Revealed Word. Faith comes from listening to God's Word and faith without works is dead (Romans 10.17; James 2.26).
Unless you've come to the end of yourself, to the point where you realize that you cannot prevail by human strength, you will not be able to exercise faith in God.
This world is broken because mankind decided to run things without God. The brokenness continues today as people keep inventing ways to corrupt others, defraud them, and enslave unsuspecting victims via different forms of addictions. It is by returning to God that we experience deliverance from this brokenness.
Jesus Christ is the Way out of these troubles.
He has received a Name that is above every other name. Following Him leads to a life free from the weary burdens of life. Following Him brings purpose, meaning, and satisfaction to life. In my life, I have found that exploring other ways only leaves a person with heartache, despair, and emptiness.
Jesus Christ is the Truth you and I need to know.
This truth gives us freedom from the physical and psychological shackles that keep people tethered to harmful cultural and societal practices. For example, many of us were raised to believe in revenge. From experience, you will agree with me that revenge only creates an additional psychological baggage to carry on our minds. You keep looking over your shoulders for a counterattack from the person you're fighting and the cycle never ends. Rather, Jesus Christ tells us to leave vengeance on God and choose to overcome evil with good. It seems difficult to do but every time I have chosen this path has left me feeling lighter and happier.
Jesus Christ is the Life that has no end.
Only He has successfully defeated death permanently and He's promised to raise everyone who believes in Him to life eternal while those who disbelieve will be condemned. This reality is comforting. We can face terminal illnesses with courage knowing that death is not the end for those who put their trust in Christ. We can face each day with courage because we know He will never leave us nor forsake us.
Because He lives, we can face tomorrow. Because he lives, all fear is gone. Because we know He holds the future, life becomes worth living.
Here's another call God is making to you to repent from believing in your strength. He wants to save you. That's why He says you should "...repent and be baptized in the Name of Jesus Christ for the Forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit" (Acts 2.38).
What will be your answer to this glorious call?
